THE SHOCKING TRUTH
“Good afternoon,” Mang Lito said clearly.
The room was silent.
“My real name is Leonardo Reyes,” he continued.
“I am the major shareholder of Aragon Business Center.”
People froze.

Someone dropped a pen.
“I worked here as a janitor for two years,” he said,
“not because I needed the job… but because I wanted to observe.”
Gasps filled the room.
“I wanted to see how people treat those they think are ‘less.’”
Mr. Cruz couldn’t speak.
Mang Lito turned to him.
“You scolded me for reading,” he said calmly.
“You said it had no use for someone like me.”
He pulled out an envelope.
THE ENVELOPE
Mang Lito handed the envelope to Mr. Cruz.
Inside was a termination letter.
“You are not being removed for insulting me,” Mang Lito said.
“You are being removed because you failed to respect human dignity.”
Mr. Cruz’s knees weakened.
Mang Lito then faced everyone.
“Knowledge has no uniform,” he said.
“Wisdom has no job title.”
THE LINE NO ONE FORGOT
“I read not to escape my work,” Mang Lito said,
“but to remember who I am.”
MORAL OF THE STORY
Never underestimate someone because of their position.
A janitor who reads may be more powerful than a boss who never learns.
👉 Respect costs nothing. Judgment costs everything.
