My father-in-law turned to his bedroom and motioned for me to come back. The worst thoughts were coming to my mind, but I had no other choice. As soon as I stepped into the room, they told me to close the door.

Neighbours often told me that I was very lucky because my husband was very simple, my daughter was like a little angel and my father-in-law was very sensible. My husband, ‘Akash’, used to toil day and night in a woodworking factory to keep the family happy. My father-in-law was a disciplined man, but he loved his daughter-in-law very much. He helped me with household chores and was responsible for dropping my granddaughter to and from school.
From the outside, my life was like a perfect picture. But deep down, I felt the lack of something. Akash was often out for work, and the emptiness within me grew. That’s when ‘Sameer’, an old classmate of mine, came into my life. He was funny and took great care of me. He ignited the flame of emotion within me that I thought had been extinguished.
I knew I was on the wrong track, but I deceived myself by saying it was just a friendship. But gradually I sank into that quagmire and betrayed my husband who had unwaveringly trusted me.
In those days, there was happiness with Sameer, but the fear of being caught and the guilt also stayed with him. My father-in-law’s serious eyes used to make me restless. I knew they were suspicious, but I couldn’t stop myself. One night, when I returned to meet Sameer, I found my father-in-law standing at the main gate. There was a glow in his eyes that pierced my soul.
I tried to clarify, but the words stuck in my throat. I fell at his feet in fear and begged him not to tell anything to Akash. He remained silent, his eyes full of disappointment and anguish.
After that night, there was silence in the house. I began to fear the whispers of the neighbors and the silence of my father-in-law. Ultimately, I decided to accept my mistake and put an end to it all. I went to my father-in-law again and begged him to save the family from breaking up.
The serious man looked at me and said: “I can give you a chance, but I have one condition. ”
I said, trembling:— “I will do whatever you say. ”
He went into the room and called me. When I closed the door, he took out an old diary and an album. That album had pictures of happy moments in our family. And that diary belonged to my father-in-law. In it, he wrote about how hard Akash worked for the family, how sad he was at our quarrels, and how happy he was at our happiness. He even noted the changes in my behavior.
Seeing those twisted words and pictures, I burst into tears. I understood that family is the most important. The simplicity of the sky was my greatest asset.
After reading the diary, the father-in-law said in a serious tone: — “My condition is that you now live a life worthy of the sacrifice and love of the sky. Don’t ever hurt him again. Be an example for your daughter. ”
After that night, I completely changed. I broke all ties with Sameer. I started devoting all my time to my husband and child. A year later, we opened a small grocery store. We worked hard together. One day Akash held my hand and said: “Thank you, my spouse. ”
I shuddered when I heard this sentence of his. Perhaps they sensed my inner peace. My father-in-law was now as comfortable as ever. I still remember that night and am indebted to my father-in-law. He taught me the greatest lesson of life with silence and love. I was back on the right track, and our house was happier than ever.
