Anya was excited, she woke up early in the morning to make masala tea and planned to cook a nice meal for her parents in the afternoon. But as soon as she talked to her husband about this, she heard a sarcastic voice:

It was a weekend morning in Mumbai, the weather was pleasant. His wife, Anaya, woke up early in the morning to clean the house, preparing to welcome her parents, who had come from a village in Maharashtra. They both lived in the fields all year round, and this time, when they found out that their daughter was about to give birth, they boarded a bus from the village to the city.

“If you come to meet, let me meet, why do you create so much fuss? I still have an online meeting with the boss, I don’t have time to meet anyone. ”

Anaya ‘s husband Rohan, who was originally from Mumbai and held a small position in a technology company, always looked down on the people of the countryside, even his wife’s parents. He thought that the people of the countryside were only good at speaking plainly, and knew nothing outside the fields. He, an educated man who owned a house and a car, “deserved” the respect of his wife.

At noon, there was a knock on the door. Anaya ‘s parents, Mr. Rajesh and Mrs. Lata, came in. He was carrying bags of fresh basmati rice, some desi chickens and some ripe mangoes – all of which he had grown with his own hands – “Son-in-law, it’s been a long time since I saw you. The house is very nice. Mr. Rajesh smiled lightly.

Rohan was scrolling through his phone and he just replied indifferently: “Yes, okay.” ”

Anaya awkwardly invited her parents to sit down. When she ran into the kitchen to make tea, Rohan took out his wallet, threw a Rs 500 note on the table and said coldly:
“Take this money and go to the market and buy us some lunch items.” In the village, this Rs 500 note can last for a week. ”

There was a sudden silence in the room. The note on the table was pricking the heart like a knife. Anaya bowed her head, her face was burning, her eyes were moist. Mrs. Lata turned away and was trembling. But what surprised him was that Mr. Rajesh – around 60 years old, thin but strong – stood up and looked directly at his son-in-law.

His voice was quiet, but every word was pricking like a knife:
— “Thank you, son-in-law, for your generosity. But don’t worry about lunch today. Mom and Dad… Our daughter and Aarav are going to be taken to a big restaurant on Colaba Street. I called to tell him that he hadn’t eaten seafood in a long time. ”

Rohan was stunned to hear this, but then immediately smiled:
“That restaurant is only for the rich and the city officials to eat, Papa. You must have seen TV in the village, you must have known it, wouldn’t you? But when you got there, the security guards chased you away, thinking you were a beggar. ”

Mr. Rajesh calmly replied:
— “How can a customer who comes to eat and pays be driven away? Dad has money. ”

Saying this, Mr. Rajesh opened his old bag: Papa had just sold the land for two crore rupees, and now he was giving it to his daughter and grandson to go to the party. He gave the rest of the money to Anaya to create a savings account to deposit in the bank for emergencies. He still owned three more plots of land, each of which is now worth more than two crore rupees. He will definitely leave a plot for his grandson.

Rohan was shocked to see the money opened by his father-in-law and his words. Mr. Rajesh turned to his wife:
— “Take your bag, come on. Let your son-in-law work at home, or he’ll waste a few hundred bucks. ”

The two turned and left, just a heavy silence. Anaya fell into the chair, tears streaming down her face. She was both embarrassed and hurt. She had tolerated him many times, but this time she couldn’t take it anymore.

But it was her parents who taught her husband a lesson she will always remember: do not put others down, especially those who are inferior to you. You cannot judge people by their appearance.
