Twins lost in 2015 Hurricane Komen – 10 years later, brother makes shocking discovery

Twins missing in 2015 Cyclone Komen – 10 years later, a brother’s shocking discovery.

The story begins with a vague but terrifying memory in the mind of Amit, the brother who turns 22 this year. Exactly ten years ago, Cyclone Komen made a violent landfall on the coast of Odisha. In their small house by the sea, his parents did everything they could to keep their three children safe. Amit was 12 years old, and the twins Arjun and Ansh were only 6 years old.

That night, the wind was strong, the tin roof shaking. The sea rose so fast that the family was shocked. His father held him in his arms, his mother hugged him tightly. But then a huge wave hit, and Amit only had time to hear his mother shout: “Stop!” When he woke up, he found himself in a lifeboat, and Arjun and Ansh were nowhere to be found.

Days later, rescuers and villagers searched everywhere: beaches, rivers, destroyed houses. But there was no sign of the twins. The family could only burn incense, hoping that their souls would rest in peace. Since then, Amit has lived with guilt: “I wish I could have held his hand…”
A strange behavior ten years later

Ten years passed. Amit’s parents woke up and opened a small grocery store in the village. Amit studied Information Technology in Bhubaneswar. But the void left by his two siblings was never filled.

On the tenth anniversary of his death, Amit returned home to his hometown. While cleaning the warehouse, he found a waterproof plastic box hidden under the rubble. Inside the compartment was a faded children’s bracelet – like Arjun’s, with only a single blue pearl that his mother had accidentally threaded into it. Next to it was a piece of tightly wrapped plastic, on which was written in pencil:
“We are still alive.” ”

Amit was stunned. Any bad jokes or a hint from the children?

He showed the bracelet to his mother. She burst into tears and immediately recognized it as Arjun’s bracelet. His father was suspicious, thinking that someone might have taken it and written on it. But Amit was sure that someone was hiding something.

He started asking around. An old fisherman said that after the cyclone that year, there was a rumor that two children were swept away in the water and ended up in the western forest and were rescued by the forest personnel. Amit agreed and went to a hilly area in Jharkhand and asked people involved in the relief work. One official remembered a little: “There were two strange children who were brought to the medical station, and then they were adopted by a charity …”

In particular, while searching social networks, Amit came across pictures of twins studying in a boarding school in Ranchi. The faces of the two boys resembled Arjun and Ansh in a strange way way: big eyes, round cheeks, and remarkably, one of them was wearing the exact same bracelet that Amit was holding.

The Journey to Find the Children

With a pounding heart, Amit printed out the picture and took it to his mother. He was shaking so hard he almost fell over. The family decided not to tell his father, waiting for confirmation. Amit immediately boarded a bus to Ranchi.

The winding mountain path left his mind confused. He was filled with both hope and fear: What if this was a mistake? If it was true, why hadn’t anyone returned the children in the past ten years?

At the boarding school, Amit met the principal. At first he was hesitant, but when he saw the bracelet and the story, he agreed to let him meet the two students.

When the door opened and the two children entered, Amit was shocked. There was no need for a DNA test, his heart told him: Arjun and Ansh.

The Bitter Truth

The joy was not yet complete when the principal told him: after the cyclone, the two children were brought to the medical station by a foreign charity. Since they had no papers, they were recorded as “orphans”, then their names were changed to Ravi and Rahul, and sent to the mountains to be raised.

Even more shocking was that a local official deliberately erased the original records to make it easier to identify

Amit knew: if everything was forgotten, his family’s ten years of sorrow would never end. He spoke to his parents:

“We need to expose this issue. Arjun and Ansh cannot be considered ‘orphans’ just because of the greed of a few people.”

The father was a little worried: “Do you know that it is dangerous to touch old records? “Those who made mistakes in the past, now have power…”

But this time, the mother also nodded: “We have been gone for ten years. We cannot let others erase the truth. ”

Amit filed a petition in the Odisha High Court with evidence: the bracelet, a copy of the Ranchi health center’s medical records, and the principal’s testimony. After weeks of waiting, the court agreed to hold a preliminary hearing.

While reviewing the files, Amit’s lawyer noticed something was wrong:

A 2015 report said that “two unidentified children” had been found, but the first letters of their names had been cut out.

Many of the “orphan adoption” documents from foreign organizations were signed by a local official named Mr. Sharma.

His bank account also received some suspicious donations from international relief projects.

Amit held the files, his hands shaking. The suspicion of “deliberate deletion” was now clear.

On the day the trial began, the courtroom in Bhuvneshwar was packed. The press and media reported: “Twins lost in 2015 Hurricane Komen return, family sues local authorities for aid fraud.”

Mr. Sharma – now a district officer – seemed calm. His lawyer denied it: “It was all just an administrative error. There is no evidence that Mr. Sharma intentionally committed fraud.”

But when Amit’s lawyer showed a photograph of Arjun and Ansh wearing the bracelets, as well as the testimony of the doctor on duty that year, the entire courtroom fell silent. The elderly doctor burst into tears and said: “I clearly remember the two boys crying for their brother and parents. The next day, the records changed. I could not stop myself from speaking for fear of losing my job. ”

The statement was like a hammer blow. Mr. Sharma was drenched in sweat, his face pale.

The trial dragged on for weeks. Amit’s family kept up the pressure: threatening phone calls, even someone throwing stones at his mother’s small shop. But this time, he was no longer afraid. Amit told his parents:

“We have been silent for ten years. Let justice speak. ”

In the end, the court declared that Arjun and Ansh’s records were deliberately falsified. Mr. Sharma was prosecuted for corruption and exploiting children to benefit from international aid. The records were amended, officially recognizing Arjun and Ansh as the children of the Patnaik family.

The entire courtroom erupted in applause. The mother hugged her two sons tightly and sobbed, saying: “You are back, and this time no one can take you away from her.”

After the ordeal, life was still difficult. But the truth came out. Amit and his two younger siblings decided to continue their education, while also participating in social activities to help children orphaned by natural disasters.

A journalist asked Amit: “What is the reason for staying until the end?”

He smiled, his eyes red: “Because I believe that justice may be delayed, but it will not be lost. And brotherly love, family love, is something that force cannot erase.”
