The Six-Months-Pregnant Wife Refuses to Get Out of Bed; the Husband, Suspecting Something, Lifts the Blanket and Begins to Tremble at the Sight…

Arjun and Priya had been married for three years when finally, the good news arrived. Since learning about Priya’s pregnancy, Arjun had been attentive, taking care of her every step of the way. She was six months pregnant, and the baby was growing healthy. But lately, Priya had become distant: she stayed in bed most of the time and barely went out. No matter how hard Arjun tried to cheer her up, she would only smile awkwardly and say she was tired.

At first, Arjun thought his wife was just feeling the usual discomforts of pregnancy or that she felt heavy. But gradually, he began to notice strange signs. During meals, she would eat only a little and then return to bed. Even when she needed to use the bathroom, she tried to avoid it. Concerned, Arjun gently scolded her:

“Priya… you can’t stay in bed all the time; it could harm the baby.”

Priya only shook her head, her eyes red. The way she clutched the thin blanket made Arjun even more uneasy.

One night, Arjun came home late from work. Upon opening the door, he saw his wife in the same position as always: lying on her side, covered from chest to feet. The strange atmosphere made his heart beat faster. He approached, sat beside her, and spoke in a low voice:

“Priya… are you hiding something from me?”

Priya remained silent, her shoulders trembling slightly. At that moment, Arjun felt an inexplicable fear. He reached toward the edge of the blanket.

“I’m sorry… but I need to know.”

With shaking hands, Arjun lifted the blanket.

The scene before him left him speechless. Priya’s legs were swollen, her skin pale and covered in bruises. Her feet were cracked, red, and inflamed, so tender that even a gentle touch made her cry out in pain. Arjun froze, unable to believe what he was seeing.

“My God… why didn’t you tell me?” he asked, his voice breaking, tears welling in his eyes.

Priya averted her gaze, speaking through sobs:

“I didn’t want to worry you… I was afraid you’d get tired of all this. That’s why I hid it…”

It turned out that Priya had been suffering from severe swelling in her feet for months during her pregnancy. The pain had worsened to the point that she could barely walk. But seeing how hard her husband worked, she chose to endure it silently, hiding under the blanket.

Arjun embraced his wife, his heart breaking. He realized he had been too busy with work to notice the changes in her.

The next morning, Arjun took Priya to St. Luke’s Medical Center in Manila. When the doctor explained that this was a sign of preeclampsia—a dangerous complication that could affect both mother and baby—Arjun’s heart sank. If left undetected, the consequences could have been devastating.

In the hospital room, as the doctor administered anti-inflammatory medication, Priya held her husband’s hand tightly. Arjun whispered:

“From now on, don’t hide anything from me. Whatever happens, we’ll face it together.”

Priya nodded, her voice choked with emotion. Arjun realized that true love isn’t just about sweet words—it’s about facing pain and fear together.

In the following days, Arjun took extended leave to care for his wife. He learned to cook, massaged her feet every night, and helped her take small walks around the hospital courtyard. Many people who saw them were touched and praised their dedication.

Three months later, Priya gave birth to a healthy baby girl at St. Luke’s. Hearing their daughter cry in the delivery room, Arjun wept like a child. He took his wife’s hand, kissed her forehead, and whispered:

“Thank you… for being so strong for our family.”

And in his heart, the memory of that night—when he lifted the blanket and saw his wife’s swollen, trembling feet—remained forever. It was the moment he understood, more deeply than ever, that true love is shared, and you never abandon the person you love.
