My name is Neha, 32 years old. An ordinary woman, with a husband named Arjun, a job, and dreams. But one night, while I was returning home from the office, the auto I was in was hit by a truck. When I opened my eyes, I couldn’t move my body. I could hear voices, people talking, but I had no strength to speak or even open my eyes. The doctors said: coma.

But what they didn’t know… my mind was fully awake.

Life in Silence
The first few days were only the sound of machines. Beep… beep… beep…
Then I started hearing the whispers of nurses, the footsteps of doctors, and the voices of visitors.
The first voice I heard was Arjun, my husband’s.

“Doctor, is there hope for her?”
“She’s in a critical condition right now. If this continues for another week or two, her life could be at risk.”

I heard these words, but I couldn’t do anything. I wanted to scream — “I’m still here!” — but my mouth was sealed.

Days passed, and Arjun began visiting less frequently. And then, one night, he didn’t come alone.

Words I’ll Never Forget
I heard the door open, and then her voice.
“Anvi, come here. Nothing will happen, there’s no one else.”

Anvi. My best friend, the woman who had been in my life since college, up until my marriage. The one I had shared every secret of my heart with.

“Arjun… maybe she’ll wake up.”
“She won’t. She’s been here for a month. Don’t worry.”

I cried silently. No one could see, no one could hear. But every word pierced my soul.

“I told you before, I love you, Anvi.”
“But I’m his wife, Neha!”
“Only on paper. I only want you.”

I heard the sound of a kiss. Their footsteps approaching my bed. And then, I felt Anvi’s hand running through my hair.

“I’m sorry, Neha. But sometimes, I have to put my own priority first.”

I wanted to scream. I wanted to grab her. But nothing in my body moved — only tears streamed down my face, unnoticed by them.

A Month of Brutality and Betrayal
They came every day. Sometimes together, sometimes one by one. And every time they entered my room, I heard more things I could hardly believe.

“Anvi, when… when she’s gone, we’ll move abroad. We’ll work in another country.”
“Are you sure? If anyone asks?”
“I’ll say I can’t stay any longer. I’ve wanted to leave her for a long time.”

Sometimes, I even heard my mother’s voice:

“Arjun, don’t lose hope, okay? My daughter loves you very much.”

And at that moment, I wanted to scream to my mother — “Mom, she doesn’t love me anymore!” But I had no voice. No body. Only a heart breaking slowly.

The Miracle of Waking Up
One morning, I heard the doctor’s voice.

“There’s some movement in her fingers. Maybe it’s a sign.”

At that moment, I felt — maybe there’s still hope. And every day, I tried to move myself.
Then one night, in the silence of the hospital, Arjun came alone.

“Neha… I’m sorry. I didn’t mean it.”
I remained silent.
“But I love you. And even if you wake up, I can’t go back.”

And then, while listening to him, something happened. A tear fell on my cheek. He paused.
“Neha?”

Another tear fell.
“Ne-Neha?”

He came closer, held my hand — and then my finger moved.
“Nurse! Doctor! She’s awake! Neha is awake!”

Opening My Eyes
When I opened my eyes, everything was shining. Headache. And the first thing I saw was Arjun — the man I had prayed to see again. But now, seeing him, he wasn’t the same.

“Neha, thank God you’re awake.”
“Yes, Arjun…” I said in a weak voice. “I’m awake.”

And then I saw Anvi — standing in a corner, crying. I couldn’t believe the truth in her tears. But one thing was clear: I had heard everything.

I didn’t scream. No drama. Just a faint smile and I said:
“Thank you for coming. But from now on… I don’t want to see liars near my bed.”

Epilogue
Six months later, I fully recovered. I left my home and started a new life in a new city. I didn’t complain, I didn’t humiliate them. Because karma, when the time is right, comes on its own.

A year after my recovery, I found out that Arjun and Anvi had separated. Their business failed, and Anvi left him.
And me? I quietly closed the chapter of my old life. Because I learned that… sometimes, to see the truth, you have to pretend to be asleep.
