She worked as a funeral crier for twenty-four years to support her husband’s entire family, earning over 10 million per funeral; just three funerals a day were enough for her to live luxuriously.

For the past 24 years, this woman has lived by crying for rent – a profession that everyone thinks is shameful and humiliating, but she herself supports her husband, children, and elderly and weak in-laws. For each funeral, she is paid more than 10 million VND, works three shifts a day, and the money is never lacking. But in this house, she has never been called the word “respect”. In her husband’s family, she has always been a low-ranking daughter-in-law, living on fake tears.

All day long when she comes home from work, she quietly puts the thick envelope of money on the altar, then locks herself in the small room, hearing the voice of her eldest daughter-in-law sneering, the voice of her grandson whispering: “Her mother is an expert at crying, what is there to be proud of…”. Every time like that, she just grits her teeth and swallows her tears inside.

However, one afternoon when he came home from work, he saw from afar in front of the gate of the house a piece of white cloth hanging. The neighbors gathered, some shook their heads, some sighed. He entered trembling, stunned to the point of collapse: the whole house was full of mourning scarves, the altar was smoky, and in the middle of the courtyard was the last red coffin standing tall.

He sighed and asked,
“Who… Who died?”

No one answered. His wife’s entire family sat around, their eyes looking at him coldly. When the eldest son approached, his voice was as firm as a knife:

– “I have been crying for people all my life, now it is time to really cry for my family. The person in the coffin… is my father. My father died, and I don’t know where to make money, now it is too late.”

She screamed, rushed to hug the coffin, and cried her heart out. But then, in that moment of despair, her eyes caught the will, which was lying neatly on the altar. Her trembling hands opened, and she was amazed:

👉All the land and property – which the deer had cried and rented to support the entire family for decades – had been transferred to the names of… two brothers-in-law. And she, and her children, did not have a single line of reference.

The entire yard was silent. There was only the bitter cry of a woman… For the first time in 24 years
