“Swim if you can,” my wife’s brother shouted and walked away, leaving me in the depths of the ocean.

At sea, everything seemed calm. The sky reflected the calm waves, and the wind gently caressed the surface. However, behind the seeming idyll, an invisible tension lurked.

My husband’s brother, Alex, insisted on taking me “to see a special place,” a place he described as beautiful and remote. I agreed out of curiosity, not knowing the real reason for this trip.

As we left the beach, his tone changed. His gaze, which had been neutral at first, turned hard. He spoke of David, my missing husband, with a strange bitterness.

“He wasn’t tough enough,” he whispered, as if settling an old score.

Alex had always been interested in David, my husband’s commercial empire.

Behind the facade of a caring brother, lurks a man who is willing to do anything to get my wife’s property—things he has long sought.

He stands up, his face lit up with cold determination.

It all happened so quickly. Laughter, the cold water enveloping me.

“Swim if you can,” he shouts before disappearing, the silhouette of the boat disappearing over the horizon.

He thinks he has the last word. But he doesn’t know: I have long since realized that sailing this sea is not just a walk.

The next day, he can’t believe his eyes when he sees me. He is shocked.

The next morning, he opens the safe and discovers that all the documents are gone. In fact, I am already waiting with the fishermen at the lawyer’s office.

Little did he know that my husband’s former captain, Mark, and his crew were already nearby, watching us. They saved me.

While Alex was playing the widow, heading to the office to make important decisions, she received a call from my lawyer.

When she arrived, thinking everything had gone according to plan, she found me there, calm, wrapped in a blanket, sipping tea.

“Thanks for stopping by, Alex,” my lawyer said. “Mr. Mark, who is here, is giving an official statement about the incident. We would like to hear your version of events.”

Alex’s eyes darkened. He realized that his plan had lost hope.

Here, in this room, he was no longer in control. The pieces of the puzzle were starting to fit together, and the truth was starting to emerge. He was underestimating my resolve and the caution of the people watching me. Everything was decided in that moment.

My lawyer continued, “We have gathered the evidence. Your foolishness will not go away, Alex. Did you think that leaving me in the ocean would make me lose? You have not yet seen that the ocean hides many secrets.”

Sh0 was clearly visible on his face. Alex knew that his days of freedom were numbered.
