A MAN DIDN’T SHOW UP FOR HIS JOB INTERVIEW BECAUSE HE HELPED A PREGNANT WOMAN — AND HE WAS SHOCKED WHEN HE FIND OUT WHO THE WOMAN HE HELPED WAS

Adrian woke up early, wearing the long sleeves he borrowed from his cousin. Today was the day of his final job interview at a well-known company—an opportunity he had long dreamed of. He had been unemployed for seven months and was just hoping for some kind of a job. He carried a folder of his resume and slowly left the house.

As he rode the jeepney to the terminal, his heart beat fast with nervousness and excitement. “This is it,” he whispered to himself. “For Mama and my siblings.”

When he got off the highway, he only had about fifteen minutes to wait for the bus to the city. But he stopped when he noticed a pregnant woman on the side of the road—holding her stomach, pale, and shaking.

Adrian immediately approached.

“Miss, are you okay?” he asked.

The woman took a deep breath. “Brother… it hurts… it feels like the baby is about to come out… I’m not with anyone…”

Adrian was nervous. He checked the time—an hour before the interview. But he knew he couldn’t leave as if nothing had happened.

“I’ll help you. Can you call someone?”

“N-nothing… just me…”

He immediately took a tricycle and helped the woman along. They were heading to the nearest lying-in clinic, and he was almost as nervous for the woman as he was for the time.

“Miss, just be patient, just a little bit.”

When they arrived, the nurses greeted the pregnant woman and took care of her immediately. Adrian was left outside, sweating and dizzy, but not leaving.

He texted HR, apologizing for being late. No answer.

After a while, the nurse came out. “Sir, the patient said thank you. You were the only one who stopped to help.”

Adrian smiled but was clearly sad. “It’s okay. As long as she’s safe.”

He was about to leave the clinic when he heard the woman’s soft voice from inside.

“Just a moment…”

He approached her. The woman was already in bed, breathing more smoothly.

“I can’t repay you,” she said, “but thank you. I’ll never forget this.”

Adrian smiled. “That’s no problem. Take care.”

He went out and sat in the waiting shed. He wasn’t sure if his chance was gone or not, but there was peace inside him.

The next day, someone knocked on their door. A man in a black coat was outside.

“Are you Mr. Adrian Santos?”

“Yes,” he replied, surprised.

“The chairperson of SilverCore Corporation is inviting you. There’s a car waiting.”

He frowned. “SilverCore? That’s the company I was supposed to interview with yesterday…”

The man nodded. “Yes. Come with me.”

In the office, he could hardly breathe from the beauty and size of the place. A moment later, a woman in a corporate suit entered—elegant, self-assured, and obviously respected.

Adrian stopped dead in his tracks.

She was the pregnant woman he had helped yesterday—but now she was fine, smiling, and clearly in a high position.

“Good morning, Adrian,” the woman said. “I’m Serena Alday, CEO of SilverCore. I’m sorry if I didn’t tell you the truth right away. I gave birth prematurely but my baby is now stable.”

Adrian was almost speechless.

“I read your message yesterday,” Serena continued. “And I found out why you couldn’t come. You helped someone you didn’t know—even if it cost you your opportunity.”

She looked straight at Adrian.

“Adrian Santos… you don’t need to interview. Starting today, you’re the new Operations Coordinator of my company—full-time, with benefits, and a signing bonus.”

Tears welled up in her eyes. “Ma’am… are you serious?”

Serena smiled. “Yes. And there’s one more thing. I’ll give you a scholarship while you work here. I’ve seen your heart, and people like you are the ones I want to be around.”

Adrian couldn’t help but burst into tears.

“Thank you so much… I don’t know how I can repay you.”

“You’ve done enough,” Serena replied. “Not all kindness has to come in return—but sometimes, there’s a reward.”

When he got home, his mother greeted him.

“Son… why is there an expensive car outside? And why are you wearing a coat?”

Adrian smiled broadly.

“Mom, I have a story… but let’s eat something delicious first.”

And for the first time in a long time, their family ate with joy, hope, and a new beginning.

In Adrian’s mind, the lesson was clear:

When you help without expecting anything in return, destiny always has a way of returning it at the best possible time.
